An avid enthusiast of baseball and football cards since his childhood in the mid-80s, Nick Tylwalk called his binder of Mark McGwire cards (unfortunately, as it turned out) one of his treasured possessions. He continued to collect cards of all kinds until he left home to attend Duke University, at which time financial realities caused him to give up the hobby.

That changed in early 2001. Sent by his boss to get a drink at the drug store, Nick bought a single pack of 2001 Press Pass Football completely on a whim. A LaDainian Tomlinson autographed card was inside, and just like that, he was hooked again.

Nick spent the better part of the 2000s immersing himself in the hobby, spending several years working at a sports card store, attending card shows and buying and selling cards online. Since writing was also one of his interests, it only made sense to combine that with collecting, and he had articles appear in various places, including Beckett Hockey.

In February 2007, Nick was hired as the Guide to Sports Cards for About.com, where he wrote and edited hundreds of articles and blog entries devoted to the hobby, with a special focus on getting beginners and people who had lapsed like him up to speed with recent developments. He hopes to carry on that same spirit here at Sports Cards Daily.

When not opening packs of cards or working his day job, Nick writes for and edits the boxing blog BoxingWatchers.com, contributes to Canada’s SLAM! Wrestling and reviews music for HipHopSite.com. He resides in Hummelstown, PA with his wife Diane, daughter Beth and son J.T.
